Acupuncture:  Safe, Effective, Affordable

Safe:
Did you know that the most common “side effect” of acupuncture is that you stand up straighter, smile easier, feel more positive, sleep better and generally feel better?

Needles are never reused, extremely thin and painless and do not add dangerous chemicals to your system.  Licensed practitioners are trained in the safe practice of this natural healing modality.  There is little to no risk involved in this medicine.  People who are afraid of needles can experience positive results with acupressure (Shiatsu) and other modalities offered.

  • Acupuncture creates this relief from excessive stress  that is so needed by turning off the sympathetic nervous system (fight or flight mechanism) and switching on the parasympathetic which facilitates balance among all of the organ systems.

It is like re-setting your own self-healing mechanisms.

    And it WORKS!

Effective:
Acupuncture has been around for thousands of years because people experience positive results.  In fact, this is why many people are pleasantly surprised when they experience positive results for their original complaint and ALSO experience positive results for other health issues.

Acupuncture is homeostatic.  That means that it activates your own inner healer.  We are all born with the innate ability to heal.  This mechanism breaks down when we experience excessive stress without relief.   Some stress, of course, is unavoidable and even desired!  It is the excessive stress without relief that breaks down our defenses.

Affordable:
At Acucare, there is a plan that can fit your schedule and your budget.  The clinic is situated inside of Healing Touch Rehabilitation, a beautiful physical therapy facility.  There is a private room for conventional acupuncture, shiatsu and other modalities and there is a larger room where community style acupuncture is available at a greatly discounted price at certain times during the week.  Now there is absolutely  no reason why you cannot enjoy the benefits of this safe and effective medicine!

If your insurance policy covers acupuncture treatment, physical therapy or massage therapy bring your insurance card and driver’s license and we will inquire into your coverage.

Acupuncture Facial Rejuvenation

  • Expect to smile and be rejuvenated from the inside out with the ancient Chinese wisdom of promoting balance between the organs and enhancing the normal flow of energy, or “Qi.” The results are remarkable!

After one treatment you will feel more relaxed and radiant.  The tiniest needles will have stimulated collagen production on your face.

The entire treatment will tonify the organs related to your skin, create a healthy balance that will radiate from your face and enhance your body’s longevity overall.  You will feel better after one treatment and the usually recommended 8-12 treatments will have netted positive results long before they are done.

Watch as your body fills in fine lines, and takes on a more youthful, lifted visage.  Relax those furrowed brows without injecting poisons into your body. In addition to looking younger, you will feel better and be motivated to be healthier. Acupuncture will lift your face and it will lift your spirits as well.

Moxibustion Therapy

Moxibustion is a modality for adding heat, and therefore, "Qi" or energy to a body when the symptoms of imbalance shows "cold" or "deficiency of Qi"

Those symptoms could be frequency of urination, lack of sex drive, loose stools, pain and contraction or stiffness of muscles or joints, like arthritis that is aggravated in cold or damp conditions.  Moxa is made from a special herb called Artemisia.  This herb, when burned has the ability to create a particularly intense heat that seems to be absorbed into the points and travel along the channels.

Patients have commented on the sensations experienced as the warmth spread into their bodies.  This form of moxa is simple and causes less smoke than loose moxa which is pinched into a ball and placed on the end of a needle and lit.  Both forms are quite effective.

Group Acupuncture

I am offering chair treatments in the physical therapy room where I share office space.  At certain hours, to be announced I will put out these comfortable chairs and people can come for treatment alone or with a buddy.

If they come in alone treatment is only $40.00.  It is quick, it is easy, affordable and effective.  In fact, the secretary for Healing Touch, who was afraid of needles for a long time, finally tried the treatment in the chair because she was feeling so badly.  She said that before I even had all of the needles in she was feeling incredibly sleepy and relaxed.  After a half hour of deep, healing and restful relaxation she woke up and felt like a new person.  Now she tries to get treated at least once a week.

New patients must pay a one time $10  paperwork fee.  After that it is only $40 unless they come in with a friend, in which case it will only be $25 each.  The one time $10 fee is still applicable.

As an accepted part of many physical rehabilitation programs, massage therapy has also proven beneficial for many chronic conditions, including low back pain, arthritis, bursitis, fatigue, high blood pressure, diabetes, immunity suppression, infertility, smoking cessation, depression, and more.

Dr. Skuban is the lead Shiatsu teacher at the Acupuncture Massage College and has been teaching Shiatsu (Acupressure) for 7 years.

Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy is the practice of using the natural oils extracted from flowers, bark, stems, leaves, roots or other parts of a plant to enhance psychological and physical well-being.

The inhaled aroma from these "essential" oils is widely believed to stimulate brain function. Essential oils can also be absorbed through the skin, where they travel through the bloodstream and can promote whole-body healing.

A form of alternative medicine, aromatherapy is gaining momentum. It is used for a variety of applications, including pain relief, mood enhancement and increased cognitive function.  There are a wide number of essential oils available, each with its own healing properties.

Dr Skuban uses only the finest, organic, pure essential oils.

Homeopathy

Homeopathy is a system of medical therapy that uses very small doses of medicines, or remedies utilizing the homeopathic principle of “like cures like.”

These remedies are prepared from substances found in nature. Nevertheless, homeopathy should not be confused with herbal medicine. These two systems of medicine are very different. Herbal medicine uses tinctures or capsules of botanical substances, whereas homeopaths use ultradilute "micro"doses made from not only plants, but minerals or any other substance found in nature.

Dr. Skuban is certified to practice Acupuncture Injection Therapy.  This modality combines the science of homeopathy with the art of acupuncture to enhance the effectiveness of each modality.

Fire Cupping

Chinese suction cup treatment (fire cupping)

This is a type of treatment where a vacuum is created in glass cups in order to "pull out evil qi" from the body.   It brings stagnation (pain) to the surface where it is easily dispersed.  It is used mostly for pain but is also effective for treating a tight chest, with coughing and stuffiness.  It works surprisingly well. which is that is why it is a modality found in many cultures, besides the Chinese, as a home remedy.
