Acupuncture creates relief from excessive stress by re-setting your own self-healing mechanisms. When you are in a constant state of stress your body becomes exhausted.
In this exhausted state you are prone to all types of disease, from metabolic imbalances to physical and emotional pain. Even accidents occur, causing injury when stress is excessive. Many people use drugs which cover up the problem allowing it to progress and further complicate the body’s efforts to self correct.
Acupuncture, stimulates the brain to secrete neuro-chemicals which decrease the perception of pain any where in your body. These naturally produced chemicals decrease pain as well as the inflammation that causese pain. Rapid healing is reinforced. Acupuncture stabilizes hormones (including stress hormones) and it promotes healthy, normal immune function, it assists the normal and healthy functioning of every system in the body from the gastrointestinal to the neurological. This is why acupuncture is useful for more than just pain, weight loss and smoking cessation.

Moxibustion is a modality for adding heat, and therefore, "Qi" or energy to a body when the symptoms of imbalance shows "cold" or "deficiency of Qi"
Those symptoms could be frequency of urination, lack of sex drive, loose stools, pain and contraction or stiffness of muscles or joints, like arthritis that is aggravated in cold or damp conditions. Moxa is made from a special herb called Artemisia. This herb, when burned has the ability to create a particularly intense heat that seems to be absorbed into the points and travel along the channels.
Patients have commented on the sensations experienced as the warmth spread into their bodies. This form of moxa is simple and causes less smoke than loose moxa which is pinched into a ball and placed on the end of a needle and lit. Both forms are quite effective.
